Toy Story 4 was released this week. Everyone I know under the sun has either already seen it or plans to.
The reviews are in.
It’s all positive.
Even movie critics who I respect have given this film high marks. This shocks me because typically franchise movies such as these that go beyond two installments are panned to hell by the public.
Think about a classic franchise like Beverly Hills Cop, which happens to be a personal favorite. The first version is critically acclaimed. Second is very solid. The third is downright horrible.
Yet Toy Story 4 thus far is universally loved.
But here’s the shocking part.I have never seen any of them. Not Part 1. 2. 3 and certainly not 4. It kind of makes sense and kind of doesn’t. This first installment was released in 1995. I was 15. The reality is Toy Story did not appeal to me at that moment in my life. I only cared about 3 things in 1995: Sports, girls and pizza.
24 years later, I feel like I’m missing out on something. Might be time for a binge.
