Week 2 in the books. Lots of big shake ups in the Earnestly Speaking Media rankings. I am so glad I decided to rank all 32 teams this season as opposed to limiting it to ten. It gives much more context into what is happening in the league across the board. On with the rankings. 1. Los Angeles Rams
Since halftime of Week 1 at the Raiders the Rams have outscored their opponents 67-0. That’s all you need to know. Dominant on paper. Dominant on the field. 2. Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes has been so dominant through two weeks throwing for 10 touchdowns in two weeks. Even more impressive is the Chiefs winning two games against two playoff contenders on the road at the Chargers and Steelers. Really impressive. 3. Jacksonville Jaguars Arguably the biggest win of Week 2 and their personal Super Bowl victory over the AFC Champions New England Patriots. That said let’s see if Blake Bortles and company can use this win as a stepping stool into bigger things in the future AFC playoff picture. A tiebreaker could be in play come December. This win goes a long way to helping the cause. 4. Philadelphia Eagles Carson Wentz is back for Week 3. Injuries to their receiving core can pose issues moving forward. 5. Minnesota Vikings Kirk Cousins was impressive but if it wasn’t for a bail out roughing the passer call on the Packers they lose in Lambeau. 6. New England Patriots With the acquisition of Josh Gordon, depending on how he behaves within the Patriot culture may indeed flip this season in a positive way for Tom Brady. A weapon who can take the top off a defense. 7. Atlanta Falcons Won a must win game against a feisty divisional opponent. Still believe they will be in the mix come December/January. 8. Green Bay Packers Had the Vikings dead to rights before bailing out Kirk Cousins late. But the Packers controlled that game mostly so blame does ultimately fall on them. 9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers By far the most surprising team of the young season. I couldn’t find a reason in all honesty not to put them in the top 10 especially when you consider the opponents they’ve beaten. An playoff contender in New Orleans and the defending Super Bowl champs in Philadelphia. 10. Cincinnati Bengals I knew they would be solid this season. Didn’t think they’d be 2-0 out the gate good. The next four weeks will tell a lot. Panthers, Falcons, Dolphins and Steelers on the horizon. THE OTHER 22 11. Carolina Panthers 12. Pittsburgh Steelers 13. Denver Broncos 14. Los Angeles Chargers 15. Chicago Bears 16. New Orleans Saints 17. Baltimore Ravens 18. Miami Dolphins 19. San Francisco 49ers 20. Indianapolis Colts 21. Washington Redskins 22. Dallas Cowboys 23. New York Jets 24. Tennessee Titans 25. Seattle Seahawks 26. Cleveland Browns 27. Houston Texans 28. Oakland Raiders 29. Detroit Lions 30. New York Giants 31. Arizona Cardinals 32. Buffalo Bills |
