I didn’t talk about it much about on social media but last weekend my family moved out of our apartment we called home for four years into a new 2/2.5 townhouse. It’s a pretty exciting move considering that the Mrs. and I added to our family last year and ultimately realized we needed much more space than we were operating with.
We’re still renting (which sorta sucks) but the wife and I have been flirting with the idea of buying a home. Unfortunately anyone that follows the market knows that it’s more of a sellers market. So we’ve decided to wait it out another year or 3 in hopes that the housing markets flips once again in our favor. I don’t expect it to have the impact of 2008 when the entire economy sank into the abyss but low enough to suck me into a common sense purchase.
In some ways there is a piece of mind in renting over owning. If anything breaks the owner fixes it. Period. End of discussion. No worries in having to hit your wallet on a random Tuesday because the dishwasher decided to take shit on you. It’s already taken care of. Boom, bam thank you mam.
I also do enjoy the newness every few years of moving into a different abode. That is an excitement that cannot be replicated when you’re a homeowner. Unless of course you’re literally buying a new house every 3-4 years which if we are to be honest isn’t common for most middle class Americans.
While I hate moving the end result is always the satisfaction of the process. This last week I have been left quite satisfied.
A change of scenery.
A new environment.
It’s both exciting and invigorating.
Change is good.
