Let's be honest. This week is all about Clemson. And they reflect all over this week's rankings. Through three weeks it feels like there's already a parting between the elite teams in all of college football and the rest. Having scheduled elite matchups early in the season does that. Makes the conversation much more clearer. 1. Clemson I'm sorry but I have to do it. The last two weeks all the defending national champions have done is walk into a rough Auburn environment and win. Then in an ever important ACC matchup absolutely dominate Louisville and the best player in all of college football in Lamar Jackson, the defending Heisman winner. I'm sure when petty Alabama fans read this will get their panties in a bunch but just remember the last time Clemson played you guys, they beat you as well. Time for pollsters to grow balls and show respect to the champs this week. 2. Alabama Dropping Alabama a spot this week has less to do with the Tide and what they've done thus far and more to do with Clemson. A weaker SEC may hurt Bama mostly in terms of these ranking but not perception. We already know the greatness of Nick Saban. 3. Oklahoma We still won't forget last week's upset in Columbus when it comes to the Sooners. But just like Alabama, I am not penalizing Oklahoma based on their own doing. It's all about Clemson this week. 4. Penn State The truth is Penn State has not played anyone substantial on their schedule thus far. They honestly cracked the Fab Four due to USC inconsistent play week after week. But we also have to give the Nittany Lions credit. They have won their games in the fashion you should. You may hate that they love running up the score vs. opponents. James Frankin doesn't give a crap what you think. |
