The 2016 NBA Finals have come to a close and already we know how Vegas is leaning in terms of title favorites in the Association for 2017.
As expected (and as I predicted) in my last post, the Golden State Warriors open up as the odds on favorite to win the NBA title in 2017. This also doesn’t factor in the possibility (but unlikely in my opinion) if Kevin Durant were to actually bolt from Oklahoma City next month to the Bay Area. Rumors are already circulating that should Durant decide to leave OKC that Warriors is his first preferred choice. We’ve even heard talks that Golden State intends to make a run at Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki. Clearly losing the NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers after blowing a 3-1 series lead has left some discomfort in the Bay Area. From a perception point of view it seems like they are looking to shake things up a bit this summer. The Warriors are already the summer’s most interesting team –even in losing . The now NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers coming in 2nd really shouldn’t be much of a surprise. No one expects the Eastern Conference to have a major shakeup enough to present a significant challenge to LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and the Cavs. Expect them to be right back in the Finals this season barring anything catastrophic — like LeBron leaving Cleveland, which honestly I don’t see happening despite the whispers across the league on his future. The rest of the list: Odds to win 2017 NBA Championship via Bovada Golden State Warriors: 2:1 Cleveland Cavaliers: 9:4 San Antonio Spurs: 15:2 Oklahoma City Thunder: 17:2 Los Angeles Clippers: 20:1 Boston Celtics: 25:1 Toronto Raptors: 25:1 Chicago Bulls: 33:1 Miami Heat: 33:1 Atlanta Hawks: 50:1 Houston Rockets: 50:1 Dallas Mavericks: 66:1 New Orleans Pelicans: 66:1 Charlotte Hornets: 75:1 Detroit Pistons: 75:1 Indiana Pacers: 75:1 Memphis Grizzlies: 75:1 Minnesota Timberwolves: 75:1 New York Knicks: 75:1 Portland Trailblazers: 75:1 Washington Wizards: 75:1 Denver Nuggets: 100:1 Los Angeles Lakers: 100:1 Milwaukee Bucks: 100:1 Sacramento Kings: 100:1 Utah Jazz: 100:1 Orlando Magic: 125:1 Philadelphia 76ers: 150:1 Phoenix Suns: 150:1 Brooklyn Nets: 250:1 We still have the draft this Thursday night and then Free Agency starting July 1st to come so some of these present numbers may alter then. But for now the 2017 NBA Title odds have been revealed and will be highly debated |
