How fitting is it that the 20th anniversary of the Bulls 72 win season, the Warriors of Golden State are set to eclipse that record with a win Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. While many are indeed caught up in the hype of the Warriors’s success (and rightfully so), they need to be reminded of how daunting a task winning 70 games is. There’s a reason why the Warriors are only the 2nd team in NBA history to cross the 70 win threshold. A team doesn’t happen to wake up one season and just say they are going to win 70 games. History has shown us that even the greatest of the greatest did not come close to 70 wins. So we have to give credit where credit is due. This mixtape is a great reminder of how great those 1996 Chicago Bulls were and why many believe not only that they were the best single team in league history, but why they would’ve beaten these Warriors in a seven game soiree’. Now, while I am of the opinion that, yes — Chicago would’ve taken Golden State to task, I do not share Scottie Pippen’s recent opinions that these same Bulls would’ve swept the Warriors. For crying out loud there were teams the Bulls didn’t even sweep that were inferior to these Warriors. Pippen, who is greatness personified in his own right and has been known to make shocking statements, is obviously coming from a very biased place. I don’t even know if Scottie himself believes what he says. Nevertheless, those Bulls were damn good and this mixtape is perfect reminder. Enjoy! |
