I have no problem with anyone having an honest position in the era of “Embrace Debate”. Especially one as tired as Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James for the title of “greatest of all time” or what many affectionately call, GOAT. However Hall Of Famer and 6 time NBA champion Scottie Pippen has straddled both sides of the fence when it comes to this very topic. This now more than tired debate has been relaunched yet again following his appearance on Thursday morning’s edition of ESPN First Take ahead of this weekend’s NBA All Star festivities in Charlotte, North Carolina. For the record his position on the LeBron/Jordan debate to me is correct. At least this week’s position. It’s still Michael Jordan at #1 in my opinion and for many of the reasons he eloquently stated. I do find the Kobe Bryant comparison however a bit more questionable. Take it for what you will. I love and respect the hell out of Kobe. But I’m Team LeBron when it comes to that actual debate. Now you may ask where exactly is the inconsistencies involving Pippen’s comments that you speak of? Well here is his comments on this very topic on the same show way back in 2011. Mind you this is LeBron James still a full year before winning his first NBA title so it seems even MORE rediculous in hindsight. See my issue now?!?!
Pick a side Scottie and stick to it. |
