This weekend unfortunately I have to put an end to one of my four podcasts I host due to the company who provides the platform deciding to close up shop in the coming weeks.
The Earnestly Speaking UNFILTERED! podcast which I launched about a year ago was actually my favorite pod of the four to curate content on. It was the podcast where it didn’t require any production of the sort. It was just me and a microphone. Rambling and ranting about any and everything on my mind. The company Bumpers who hosts the show is shutting everything down in early March so naturally rather than drag it out I made the immediate decision to end that show. In some ways I’m relieved because I was looking for a way to cut back on the number of podcasts I’ve been doing as of late. Not to say I don’t enjoy it but in recent weeks I’ve realized that maybe it was a bit of overkill as to what I was doing. The problem was I was not entirely sure which show I wanted to sacrifice. Bumpers made that decision quite easy for me. What made Bumpers so great was it’s convenience. It was the first time I was able to record, edit and publish straight from my mobile phone. So if you were a loyal listener you would notice a good portion of the episodes on there consisted of me recording while on the road in my car. Sometimes in different places other than an actual studio. It provided the covenience to get your material out to the world without worrying about returning to your home studio to edit then later publish. Unfortunately for Bumpers the podcasting platform while still growing in numbers is still a relatively newer medium. Much less is the know how to curate content from your mobile. It was a tremendous idea that had potential and in my opinion STILL has the potential. Unfortunately now is not the time. Thank you Bumpers for making me feel like home the last year. |
