Long time ESPN broadcaster and journalist John Saunders passed away early Wednesday morning. In addition to being well respected by many of his peers, Saunders was one of the early and long standing personalities at the four letter network. Saunders, who was at ESPN for 30 years was best known for his stints on The Sports Reporters, College Football Gameday and Sportscenter among others. He was an effective debater and to me, felt like a calm in the storm when it came to discussing interesting sports takes across the landscape. Hannah Storm expressed the impact of Saunders best when she first broke the news live from the Rio Olympic Games.
Saunders, like Stuart Scott before and others, represented another media personality that helped shape what sports media is today. He will truly be missed.
