NFL Free Agency gets underway 24 hours from now and I can honestly say I am not too excited about it. I mean outside maybe on the what moves the NY Giants plan on making (since indeed they need to rebuild) I don’t really see any big games to get excited about.
I mean should we really care where Michael Vick is heading? That guy cannot stay healthy longer than a quarter of a season.
Jared Allen? I mean yeah he could help a contender that’s a piece away from Super Bowl contention. But there really isn’t an offseason storyline that screams excitement.
Last season was fun cause you had both Seattle and San Francisco doing their own “can you top this?” signings that were intended to beat the other. It only added to the regular season intrigue that ultimately played out in the postseason. We don’t have that type of storyline nor hot name to headline this offseason’s free agency class.
Maybe I’m just being negative cause we all have gotten spoiled the last few seasons with names like Peyton Manning being thrown into the free agency ring but even guys who do have names such as Hakeem Nicks and Darren Sproles aren’t necessarily going to jump off your screen at first glance. I’ll probably feel differently about this in a few days once free agency gets underway.
Seems like in the last 7 days both the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers played in to the season long Eastern Conference narrative. In other words, both teams stunk this week.
Indiana is currently riding a 4 game losing streak while Miami, coming off a 9 game winning streak have dropped their last 3 games. So yeah basically no ground has been gained nor any separation has occured between both the #1 and #2 seeds in the East.
Worth nothing the Heat Pacers do have 2 more meeting this season so those upcoming games moreso have alot riding on them. Home-court advantage is there for the taking but from the looks of it at the conclusion of this weekend, none of these teams really want it.
