Last week was an unmitigated disaster for my picks.
I went 1-4 which includes a 0 for Sunday. Yeah I am not proud of the fact. However I will not quit. Quitters don't put their neck on the line and publicly shame themselves in the name of gambling. Vegas does deserve LOADS of credit though. They have made it that much harder for me to even pick five games that I actually feel comfortable choosing. Then again -- they're doing their jobs. On with the picks...... **Home team in bold Indianapolis (-4.5) over Chicago In no way should I show any faith in the Colts. Chuck Pagano might be coaching for his job here. General Manbagee Ryan Grigson also in the same boat. Playing a team even more terrible than they are in the same week might be enough to buy everyone in Indy one week of bliss. Denver (-5) vs. Atlanta This one was tough. I want to respect the Falcons and their surprising 3-1 start out the gate. Even gave them a place on my power rankings. Plus I could actually vision them stealing this game -- if the Denver defense decides to exhale. Wouldnt bet my money on the latter though this week. Taking the safe bet with the champs. New England (-10) vs. Cleveland Tom Brady is back. The Browns while competitive for maybe 40 minutes of a NFL sanctioned are otherwise awful. Only reason I even question taking the Pats with so many points on the road is due to two things: 1. Brady may be rusty. 2. Rob Gronkowski might not actually play this game Then I remembered. It's the Cleveland Browns. NY Giants (+7.5) vs. Green Bay This is actually a dangerous game for the Packers. Whenever the Giants recieve a boat load of points, historically they area lock to cover. The problem here is Green Bay is coming off a bye week. The Giants are in a mini slump. We still don't know who either are these teams are in the long term. Oakland (-4) vs. San Diego I'm really surprised to see this line as small as it is. It may have to do with the Raiders disappointing Week 2 loss to Atlanta where they were favored by a similar margin and let down many including myself in them to cover. Also you have to consider the divisional matchup angle. But I'm no quitter. Nor am I scared. I'm rolling with Oakland one more time. |
