The 2017 NFL season does not start for two months. Plus many of you who read this blog on a regular basis do not give a crap about Major League Baseball -- which by the way for the life of me I do not understand. With the sports calendar looking very thin as we move into the summer, it's not a bad thing to discuss the favorites for the NFL's Most Valuable Player award. Odds Shark has recently put out their list of candidates alongside their odds of wining the award as of today 2017 NFL MVP BETTING ODDS AS OF JUNE 26th Tom Brady (NE)+450 Aaron Rodgers (GB)+700 Derek Carr (OAK)+900 Ben Roethlisberger (PIT)+1000 Dak Prescott (DAL)+1200 Russell Wilson (SEA)+1200 Matt Ryan (ATL)+1600 Ezekiel Elliott (DAL)+2000 Cam Newton (CAR)+2500 Andrew Luck (IND)+2500 Drew Brees (NO)+2500 David Johnson (ARZ)+3300 Marcus Mariota (TEN)+3300 Le'Veon Bell (PIT)+3300 Antonio Brown (PIT)+5000 Julio Jones (ATL)+5000 Carson Palmer (ARZ)+5000 Sam Bradford (MIN)+5000 Matthew Stafford (DET)+5000 Eli Manning (NYG)+5000 Philip Rivers (LAC)+5000 Adrian Peterson (NO)+5000 Jameis Winston (TB)+5000 Kirk Cousins (WSH)+5000 Alex Smith (KC)+6600 Ryan Tannehill (MIA)+6600 Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG)+6600 JJ Watt (HOU)+6600 Rob Gronkowski (NE)+6600 Khalil Mack (OAK)+6600 TY Hilton (IND)+10000 Von Miller (DEN)+10000 Andy Dalton (CIN)+10000 Carson Wentz (PHI)+10000 Joe Flacco (BAL)+10000 Marshawn Lynch (OAK)+10000 LeSean McCoy (BUF)+10000 Blake Bortles (JAX)+10000 DeMarco Murray (TEN)+10000 First off, lets delete every running back off the list not named Ezekiel Elliot. Looking at this list it is honestly no surprise that it starts off with both Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers at #1 and #2 respectably as odds on favorites. What is shocking is that the current MVP Matt Ryan drops to 7th on the list and that probably stems from the fear that the Atlanta Falcons may not be able to create the magic that got them to the Super Bowl last season. Then again considering the tragic way they lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl 51, can you honestly blame oddsmakers? 28-3 = SAVAGE The best value play here in I believe is Seahawks QB Russell Wilson who happens to be 6th on the list. This is a huge crossroads season for Seattle who really have not had the most pleasant offseason. With rumors of team infighting and star defensive back Richard Sherman at one point on the trade block, 2017 can go sideways for Seattle. Or Russell Wilson can save the season and bolt into the elite quarterback conversation. Another long shot value I would also consider is Tennessee's Marcus Mariota. I truly believe the Titans are primed for a run similar to what the Oakland Raiders did last year. As early as last season I bragged that the Titans have been rebuilding the right way. Starting in the trenches. Also this will be Mariota's third season in the league and he is trending upwards. Add the dynamics of a very weak AFC South and the entire AFC in-flux as a whole, it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world to drop a hundy on the former Oregon Ducks quarterback. |
