Lets be honest. Jeb Bush never really stood a chance to win the Republican nomination — never mind a seat into the Oval Office.
Whether it’s the “negative” residue of brother George W’s eight year reign as commander in chief, or just a case of Bush fatigue running rampant across this country the reality is Jeb Bush limped into this campaign at the wrong place and wrong time. Plus if we’re being honest with ourselves he didn’t do himself any favors. From the start the Jeb Bush campaign was lathargic, provided little to no energy and gave the impression that he didn’t even have an interest in becoming President. He looked virtually disengaged during each of the Republican Party debates he participated in. Was it Donald Trump’s high volume delivery enough to drown out Jeb? Was it too big a field to make any real ground? Possibly. Maybe it was the wrong campaign season for Jeb to make a decision to run for the highest office in all the land. Could be. I’ve always been consistent in my belief that Jeb Bush at the end of the day comes off personally as a really likeable guy however you may think about the Bush family. A guy who preaches old school family values (something I believe in), who’s been married to Columba Bush, a Mexican woman for over 40 years. Jeb actually has an interesting backstory which I recently heard during a podcast last September with Clay Travis of Outkick The Coverage. Unfortunately likeability can only get so far in today’s political climate. Maybe 2020 will be in the cards for Jeb? Only time will tell. |
