A quick note. I selected this photo as the un-official 'EJ's Notepad' photo since I imagine 93.4% of you all in America feel as happy as this high as a kite looking photo of me (even though I wasn't actually high) seeing the weekend is here. This is my safe space. This is where my mind roams. Deal. Here we go. •The Boston Celtics players decision to not include Ray Allen in their 2008 championship celebration shows just how thin skinned those guys are. Really sad. Also unsurprising Rajon Rondo is behind that charge -- even though he'll probably be out the league in the next year or two. •I can't stand Tomi Lahren. But for The Blaze to suspend her because of her views on women's right is asinine to me. Insane!! Far right conservatives are equally as hypocritical as far left liberals. It's maddening. •Love me some Spike Lee but I totally disagree with his position on why Colin Kaepernick is still unsigned. In the situation Colin Kaepernick is Ray Rice. His "issues" outweighed his production. He's just not worth the risk to many teams. If Kaepernick's production was comparable to a guy like even Russell Wilson he'd be on a NFL roster right now -- as a starter to boot. Guys like Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy are perfect examples of guys who despite the legal issues they faced a few years back were able to either keep or get employment from teams because those guys at the time were still very productive players. •Call me crazy but James Harden is starting to grow on me -- especially after his latest comments on the superstar resting epidemic that has taken over the NBA. "I'm a hooper," Harden said. "I just want to hoop. I'll rest when I'm done. I feel like my teammates and organization need me to go out there and do what I do. I get obviously paid for it, but it's something I love. I enjoy the grind. I enjoy how hard it is. I think that makes you tougher. That makes you who you are." That's the kind of shit I want to hear from our superstar athletes. I am a huge defender of the National Basketball Association. It is my personal favorite of the four major professional sporting leagues in Americs. But I vehemently refuse to get behind athletes who purposely decide to purposely rest and sit out games even though they are not injured. It does our fans a disservice -- especially the ones who pay top already overpriced dollars to come watch you play. And the worst part is the last few games where this has occurred happened to be during two nationally televised games on ABC.
Again -- I love our players who represent this league but their self awareness is severely lacking. •I love finding new mom and pop local eateries. Sure as hell beats the non caring, much overpriced corporate shit holes that perverse much of our country. If you localites who follow this blog want to check out a new place to eat, I urge you to spend some time at "The Diner" in Boynton Beach. Excellent freshly cooked food but at an extremely affordable price. And a great staff to boot. Took the wife and kid there on Thursday. We will be back during the weekend. Loved it. •Less than two weeks away from baby #2 entering our world. So much preparation. Not sure how many podcasts I'll be recording between now and early April but I'm hoping to squeeze out a few. Have a great one scheduled for this weekend that will drop either Sunday night or early Monday morning. Check out the feed in the coming days. Enjoy college basketball weekend. I hope some of you guys read my recent piece on how to make college basketball great again. Respect, EJ |
