EJ's Notepad: It's Been Awhile

•Congratulations to the 2018 Golden State Warriors for winning their 3rd title in 4 years. Not that I dislike the Dubs because I don’t but I have a really hard time rooting for Kevin Durant. I wrote about it last week on here.

•As for LeBron James. It’s all annoying. LeBron lovers. LeBron haters. They’re really honestly the same. Just two sides of the same coin. I wish we could come to a place where we could appreciate a generational talent as his. I’m not asking you to like him but to respect the fucking work he puts in. It ain’t easy going to 8 straight Finals. Now showing up with a cast on at the conclusion of the Finals is a bad look. Looks very petty.

•The 2018 Mets are just plain bad. As of this writing, their record stand at 28-36. A far cry from that amazing 13-2 start which by the way was only 2 months ago. I am by no means a disloyal fan and I will continue supporting the team, but I’m not going to bullshit you either. I’ve already checked out for the summer. Give me the movies and TV shows to deep dive into instead of what is turning out to be yet another lost Mets season. Oi’.

•Being a dad is amazing. It’s also equally draining. Now with my 5 year old son who recently finished Pre-K and is gearing up for Kindergarten totaled with my 1 year old and my wife back to work full time, I truly have come to even more respect the work stay home parents go through. I’m blessed first off to work a job where I am able to make great money, be available to my family when needed and not have to worry about hiring a babysitter. The flip side is that in recent weeks especially since we moved into our new house it’s been a bit more draining for my mentally and in some regards, physically. Not complaining. Just being real. Parenting is no walk in the park.

•This summer my main focus is about my health. Mentally, physically and spiritually. Sometimes balance is necessary. So for the next few months I’m going to slow down on the amounts of podcast I curate. Invest that extra time towards my two boys. I also want to write more. That’s a personal goal of mine.

RAPID FIRE THOUGHTS

•The World Cup will be fun despite not having the US or my native Trinidad and Tobago as part of this four year soirée.

•Why is it that South Florida drivers become dumb when conditions are compromised. Please for the love of all things, do better.

•We’re just under three weeks in but I love our new house.

•I cannot see how the the Miami Heat can move all those unattractive contracts and become a serious player in this year’s Free Agency war. But I must remind myself to trust in The Godfather Pat Riley once again.

•I love Robert DiNero’s work. But his “Fuck Trump” declaration was unbecoming and childish. Grow up old man.
