The return of Game Of Thrones, dog days of summer, frustration of the Mets in 2017 and more in this Notepad. The notepad is back. A consistent stream of consciousness and randomness is about to be had. This space is my random thoughts and musings going through my cranium. I have a few things to get off my chest. We're going to bring these every Monday and Friday throughout the summer. Cause I can do those kind of things.
•Don't need to remind anyone who actually gives a shit that Game Of Thrones returns to our lives this Sunday night. With that comes the return of the Christian family weekly 'Thrones' watch party. Now to be fair, the watch party pretty much only consists of myself, my wife, her best friend and her best friend's fiancée. Still they are great company and typically Chinese food and/or pizza are on the menu to enjoy the one hour soirée. I'll most likely be recording Game Of Thrones rapid reaction podcasts on the Earnestly Speaking Daily feed minutes after each show. May have a guest at times. May not. We'll see where it takes us. •Also last week the wife and I saw Incubus in concert for the first time since 2006. It was my wife's Mothers Day gift from myself. Incubus happens to be her favorite band on the planet. I must say I was pleasantly surprised how good they were. They sounded very tight. Brandon Boyd sounded incredible. Now maybe my expectations were low this time around because when we saw them in 2006 I was severely let down. Maybe it's my mindset. Maybe I'm old. Whatever the case is, Incubus rocked the fuck out of Perfect Vodka Amphitheater and I was a satisfied man. •This week is officially the longest sports week of the year. When I was younger with zero responsibility I used to hate this time of year. Now with a wife and two kids I honestly do not mind the break. Before you know it both college and pro football will enter our lives and weekends are going to be full to our desire. •I have been considering laying off all things social media in the next few weeks. Couple of my friends have been doing so as of late and they have all come to the conclusion that sometimes a mental restart is needed. Seeing as nothing much is going on now anyway now is as good a time as any. I'll keep everyone updated. •The Mets absolutely frustrate me. As we kick off the second half of the season they currently stand 12GB in the NL East and 10.5 GB in the Wildcard race. Needless to say it will take a miracle to climb back in the hunt -- let alone make the postseason. The last couple of seasons I will admit I have gotten spoiled. Looks like despite their recent struggles, the Yankees have gained back the backpages. Damn you Aaron Judge. •NBA Free Agency was equally interesting and entertaining. But in the end no moves were made that convinced me that a team could take out the Golden State Warriors in the near future. But I will say it is at least encouraging to see teams not laying down. Kudos to you especially Daryl Morey. •It has been a week and I am still not over the Metallica concert I attended in Miami. Probably the best show I have ever attended. If you did not get a chance to read my review of the show feel free to do so. |
