Both the NFL and college football are well underway. Yet the NBA world still throws a bone for us to chew on. If we are not spoiled. If you a Los Angeles Lakers fan, you especially would want to listen to this story. According to Jalen Rose of ESPN’s ‘Get Up’, he made it clear that Kawhi Leonard who was moved this summer to the Toronto Raptors would have no interest in playing for the Lakers in the event he decided to leave the team in Free Agency next summer. The reason? Because there is a belief according to Rose that Leonard would not want to play in the shadow of a LeBron James. Now before you decide to dismiss what Rose is saying I would caution readers not to dismiss this report entirely. Jalen Rose was one of, if not the first person in the sports media sphere to reveal the unstable situation between Leonard and the Spurs way back in January before anyone made sense of it.
Also adding some more fuel to the fire is that should Leonard actually still desire to play in the city of Angels, it would be to don the red, white and blue and join the Clippers. Not the purple and gold. This also corroborates with NBA Insider Shama Charania who in July revealed on ‘The Herd’ that by LeBron joining the Lakers would actually nudge Leonard towards playing for the Clips. Clearly there a lot of drama here and much to unpack. In my opinion, if indeed this report is actually true it really should be unsurprising given that this kind of falls in line with Kawhi Leonard’s personality. Furthermore we are in September. NBA Free Agency is not till July, 2019. There are more twists and turns to come. |
