The Boston Celtics just wont die…….yet anyway. Friday night we all wrote them off after falling behind 3-0 to the Knicks and honestly, judging from Game 3 even myself was certain New York would about do the same on Sunday afternoon and put a bow on the end of the Garnett/Pierce era in Boston. But the magic lives….albeit for another 3 days. The Celtics did salvage and survive what would’ve been an embarrassing finish after blowing a 20 point second half lead and pulled out one possible last drip magical moment from this Celtic era in OT. Do I expect the Knicks to close it out in Game 5 Wednesday at the world’s most famous arena? Yup. Will I be surprised if miraculously Beantown pulls out another bag of tricks? Certainly not. Oh and by the way, I know it took only 84 games but welcome to the 2012-2013 season Jason Terry. Miami Heat took care of business as we all expected making quick work of the Bucks in a sweep which everyone on this planet pretty much predicted. Still waiting on an explanation from Bucks G Brandon Jennings on why his 6 game prediction of a Bucks somehow did not work out as planned. Don’t disappoint me now Brandon. Best part of the Heat sweep is that now G Dwayne Wade now is guaranteed an additional 5 games of R&R as they prepare for the winner of the Chicago/Brooklyn series. Real Talk….the 1st round has mostly been a lame amount of basketball loaded up with blowouts but if you didn’t catch Bulls/Nets Game 4 Saturday afternoon then you missed out and furthermore pushing my now daily narrative as to why the Brooklyn Nets, a team full of talent remains gutless and lacking of any heart and why Chicago will win this series solely on heart and will. Thanks Brooklyn for proving once again my intuitions was dead on about you. Someone will overpay for Nate Robinson this offseason. Mark my words. He has graduated from the 1 and done deals. Now don’t go do nothing stupid Nate between now and July. The Lakers disastrous 2012-13 campaign came to a dramatic end (no not the game) with Dwight Howard being ejected after receiving 2 technical fouls and then their fearless wounded hero Kobe Bean Bryant walking out on crutches to support his team from the bench. First off if you’re a Laker fan be blessed first off with all the injuries this season to key players in different moments this season, it’s a damn miracle that team even got to 45 wins. Second, and more importantly, I am sure the front office would rather get this disaster behind them as quickly as possible and get to work on the stymie of issues and questions the Lakers need to address this offseason such as:
-Whether to resign Dwight Howard and if he even WANTS to stay -Monitoring the situation with Kobe Bryant and whether to address the option of an amnesty to his last year on his current contract -Trade/keep/annoy Pau Gasol for another season -Committing to Mike D’Antoni or shipping him out (which at this point a large percentage of Laker fans would prefer) I have now added “seeing a playoff game at Oracle Arena” on my bucketlist of things to do before I die. That is a loyal and loud fanbase. Watching Games 3 and 4 has been nothing short of a privilege as a die hard NBA nut that I am to see the loudness and atmosphere in which Warrior fans come out to support. Every fanbase in this league who gives a crap should take notes. Grizzlies F Zack Randolph is one of my 5 favorite players to watch in the league. Still shocks me a guy his size can do what he can do with the basketball. Tayshaun Prince was by far the most underrated trade acquisition in 2013 As predicted Grizzlies/Clippers should go 7. Hopefully on next week’s write up I’m not eating my words. It might be time to consider Stephen Curry as a top 5 PG in this league. And I don’t say that so much cause of how pure a shooter and scorer he is but more than he can handle the basketball just as well as the top guys like Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo can. Truly shocking that I never saw him as a pure point till the last few weeks. The playoff coverage between TNT and ESPN is night and day. Like…seriously that much of a difference in quality. Over/under on Geno Smith as the starting QB for the Jets is now set at Week 7. Place your bets in now. And where and when is Mark Sanchez getting released? Enough of the crying over EJ Manuel being the first QB selected in the draft last week. You had your chance to bitch and moan about your disdain of the pick for days. Now let it play out as it may. I got christened by my 3 week old son this weekend for the first time as he simultaneously pooed and peed on me during a recent changing. Yeah…fatherhood is fun indeed. 'Till next week |
